Ricky Shane Davis

Ricky Davis, 48, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Sugar Grove, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025. Ricky went to the hospital at the end of August to learn his pain was a pinched nerve in his spine, right above his shoulder blades—a common annoyance easily fixed. But in a horrifyingly short span of weeks, that mild discomfort turned into an aggressive, consuming agony. The pain didn't just worsen; it traveled, shooting through his core before nearly paralyzing his arms—a progression so rapid it forced an EMS ride to the ER. Two weeks and two surgeries later, his life fractured. When he learned it wasn't a musculoskeletal issue, but an unstoppable, Stage 4 bone cancer. that had consumed his body unnoticed, and he was in the final stages of a terminal illness he didn't even know he had begun to fight. His death followed swiftly, a profound shock delivered without warning, explanation, or time for many to say goodbye.

Born on December 2, 1976, in Columbus, Ohio, Ricky was the beloved son of Tamara Meneely (Davis). He grew up surrounded by family who cherished his adventurous nature and steadfast work ethic. Even in his youth, Ricky’s energy and drive were unmistakable. As a Soccer player and a high school quarterback, he was admired for his leadership and determination on the field. Those early experiences shaped his perseverance—a quality that would come to define his life.

Ricky built a career marked by craftsmanship and integrity. A CSIA Certified Chimney Master and licensed roofer, he took great pride in his trade, later establishing and running his own business. Known by clients and colleagues alike for his meticulous approach and dedication to fire safety, Ricky ensured every home he serviced was safe and secure. His attention to detail and respect for his craft stood as a reflection of his broader values—honesty, reliability, and compassion. His work took him to many places, sometimes far from home, but no matter where he traveled, his heart remained anchored to the greatest joy of his life: his son, Levi.

His circle extended to all who crossed his path. He is survived by his partner, Kim Losch; his mother, Tamara; his son, Levi S. Davis; his brother, Joseph L. Ramey; sister-in-law, Tiffany Kennedy; two nieces, two nephews, two stepsisters, and one step- brother and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven B. Kennedy II, and stepfather Steven B. Kennedy. Ricky’s legacy will live on in the love and strength he instilled in those closest to him.

His world was always set to a beat filled with rhythm and connection. An avid music lover, he found joy in sharing new songs with friends, losing himself in the melodies that spoke to his spirit. He loved the open road, often found riding his motorcycle with the wind on his face, and he expressed his creativity through the guitar and his mesmerizing Fire Stick performances. Above all, Ricky lived with an open door—always willing to host, support, or simply sit and share company with those he loved.

A faithful member of The First Presbyterian Church, Ricky gave selflessly to his community, always ready to help a stranger or lend a hand to the homeless. His generosity was quiet but profound, another reflection of his beliefs.

A private cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date.

In honor of his enduring spirit, we close with a poem written by his grandfather, Gene R. Davis, in 2008—

The Last Mile

Dear Lord, I count on you

Every day to show me the way

Through this life-I know some day

I will walk that last mile with you into that

Promise land

Oh! Dear Lord, you are the greatest of all

I know you have always been there for me

Many times, when I was down and needed you to lift me back up

I thank you!

From my heart for being there

I love you, Dear Lord

I love you - God Bless

And I know you will always be there for me

And in every new day to come -

As long as my time last here and until time to go with you- Amen.

P.S. I have seen you.

Felt you,

And know you are real

I know when you have sent angels to watch over me

The road of life, has never been easy

But, I've always kept going

And I will until that day comes

When I walk that last mile

With -you, Lord.
