IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randolph Glynn
Watts
February 22, 1937 – December 6, 2025
Randolph “Glynn” Watts, age 88, went home to be with Jesus on December 6, 2025. He was born on February 22, 1937, in Picayune, Mississippi, the place he always considered his hometown.
Glynn was a devoted follower of Christ and a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, coach, and friend. His life was marked by faithfulness to his family, dedication to his students, and joyful service to his church.
He attended community college on a piano and football scholarship and ultimately graduated from Mississippi College, where he played football and sang in a male quartet. Music and athletics remained lifelong passions.
For 40 years, Glynn served as a high school teacher, teaching history, physical education, and algebra at Port Gibson High School, Kentucky Military Institute, Taylor County High School, and retiring from Riverview High School. He also coached football and other sports for many years and left a lasting impact on generations of students.
For most of his adult life, he faithfully served as church pianist and sometimes organist at Bee Ridge Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School for many decades and ended his teaching ministry with a beloved class of senior adult men affectionately named “Pre Heaven.” His faith was steady, sincere, and generous.
He was married for 56 years to his beloved wife, Harriette Lewis Watts. He is survived by his wife, his son, Jackie Glynn Watts, and his wife Tonya; his daughter, Elaine Watts Pendergrass, and her husband David; his grandchildren, Caleb Watts, Joshua Watts, Hayden Pendergrass, and Julia Pendergrass; and his sister, Cindy Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben Randolph Watts and Etha Mae Watts, and his brother, Lane Watts.
Glynn loved Philippians 1:3 and often quoted it in handwritten letters to those he loved: “I thank my God every time I remember you.” His life reflected gratitude, faith, and affection for others.
A celebration of life service will be held at Bee Ridge Baptist Church, 4210 Proctor Road, Sarasota, Florida, on Saturday, January 10, at 10:00 AM.
Since royal blue was Glynn’s favorite color, you are invited to wear something blue in his honor at the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sarasota Pregnancy Center, 1762 Hawthorne St, Suite 5, Sarasota, FL 34239, or online at:https://donor.sarasotapregnancy.com
