Heaven may be the best place, but today it became better. She has left us here, and we will miss her, but she has joined her eternal family, and now they sing with joy. God has called home an angel, and that angel is my mom. Writers often get stuck or blocked. They can't find the words. You could say there is a lack of words. I find myself on the opposite side. I have an abundance of words. Words like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Each of these words can be individually defined and witnessed in my mother. But another word stays with me, a simple word with a deep meaning. My mom was meek. This word is often only partially defined and partially understood. Some may say it means gentle, which is true, or possibly humble, which is also true. But there is more to it. Because to be defined in one way, then the opposite must also be true. So, for my mother to be gentle, she had to have the ability to also be harsh, but she chose gentleness. For her to be humble, she had to have the ability to be prideful, and she chose to be humble. So, I use the word mild to describe meek. My mom had more power in her small finger than I possess in my entire being, but she chose to be mild. She chose to let us be first. She chose that we were more important to her than herself. She chose service and sacrifice. She chose to be the best friend you would ever have. She chose to be the mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, wife, and friend that she was. She chose to be a light for all of us. She chose LOVE, and she was the epitome of it. Our Savior said the meek will inherit the Earth, and on that day, they will place my mom at the front of the line. Goodbye for now, Mom. I love you.
